Haere Mai

Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.

Kia mau koe ki nga kupu o ou tupuna

Hold fast to the words of your ancestors

Maori are the wonderful indigenous peoples of New Zealand. I grew up singing Maori songs and doing Maori dances and am so grateful for that. I've included several lnks for you so they can share with you their culture, history, customs, where they are at today and where they are going. They can tell you better than I can.

Kia ora          Hello (Good health, be well)
Haere mai    Welcome (literally "come here")
Ka kite ano (Ka kite)      See you again (see you)
Ata marie     Good (peaceful) morning
Po marie      Good (peaceful) night

Waiho i te toipoto, kaua i te toiroa
Let us keep close together, not wide apart
